ASTA BOD BRIEF BIOGRAPHY


YAN WIN

Chairman

Mr. Yan Win was born in 1951. He got A.G.T.I (Civil) diploma in 1973 from Government Technical Insitute. He served as J.E and also S.A.E of Ministry of Construction. Yangon Region Construction, Yangon Region Construction Group (11) from 1974 – 1992. He was retired in 1992. Mr. Yan Win is chairman of A1 Construction Co., Ltd, one of the country’s largest construction companies that is found in 1990. He also serves as chairman for Myanmar Tourism Bank, Myanmar Tourism Development Public Company Limited, Myanmar Tourism Federation, Myanmar Irrawaddy Development, Yatanarpon Teleport Corporation. The government has awarded Mr. Yan Win two titles: WANNA KYAW HTIN(2010) and SITHU(2012). Mr. Yan Win lives in Yangon together with his wife. Ms. Lwin Lwin Wai.


AYE MIN OO

Vice President

Aye Min Oo (aka Sonny by friends) was born in Moulmein, Myanmar in 1966. His story about Selling Space on a Website he cannot access was published in New York Times in Y2K. A Digital Native who struggled to promote Myanmar Tourism online now leads a team of Digital Marketing Working Group – for EU, USA, Canada, Australia- formed by Ministry of Hotels and Tourism. Volunteered himself to assist ASTA in getting more members and was offered to become Vice President of ASTA Myanmar Chapter and currently carrying that responsibility. Sonny is also the Chairman of Tourism Myanmar Co-op Ltd and Managing Director of DPS Co. Ltd www.dpsmap.com which distribute Tourist Maps of Myanmar.


TIN MAUNG SHWE

Advisor & BOD

Tin Maung Shwe, born 30-11-1952 in Moe Meik, northern Shan State, is a Shan nationality. In 2007 April, at the age of 54 , left the Ministry as early retirement with own consent to enjoy life as a freelance. Established Bright View Travels & Tours co. Ltd. Started owned caravan tour operations from 2012 March. Bright View is awarded Best Performance Award for Caravan Tours – 2018 at World Tourism Day. Bright View will be voluntarily involving as a country co-ordinator in the Grand Event of Asia Cross Country Rally – AXCR comprising 450 participants from 15 countries, 128 cars and 37 motorbikes in August, 2019. Mr. Tin will be incharge of the whole event apart from competition activities.


TINT TINT LWIN

Tint Tint Lwin, Chairman and Entrepreneur of Tint Tint Myanmar Group of Companies, founded in 2008, she was a former German Tour Operator from 1996-2008. She studied Tourism Management and Business Law in Austria. While she was doing her studies, she was performing as Destination Coordinator also. When she went back to Myanmar, in the early 2000s, she become well-known as the successful tour destination operator in Myanmar Tourism Industry. For over the decade, her company, Tint Tint Myanmar Group of Companies, experience as fast-growing developed company with huge success country wide. She is also the Honorary Consul of Hungary for Myanmar. Under her Group of Companies, investments and properties include hotels and resorts, river and luxury cruises, travels and tours, energy and agriculture, clothing factories and Yangon Water Bus.


SAN SAINT SAINT AYE

Joint Secretary

Ms. San Saint Saint Aye is the Director of Myanmar Ever Bright Star Travels and Tours. She got a Master Degree in English from Yangon University and also received a Diploma in Tourism Studies and Management. She entered the travel industry in 2011 and set up her own company in 2014. She is now working as a Joint Secretary in ASTA Myanmar Chapter. Her company, Myanmar Ever Bright Star, is doing both inbound and outbound tours. For inbound, they specialize in Korea Market and now plan to expand to American Market. For outbound, they do most of the ASEAN countries and Europe.


YE TUN OO

BOD

Started travel industry as an interpreter and tour-guide on December 1st, 1995, and handling incentives groups inbound to Myanmar. In 2005, started own company specializing in professional
and amateur photo-shooting, filming and commercial ads shooting in Myanmar. A new tour company was established in line with the democratization after 2010 November general election. “Cherry Festival Myanmar” has been held every year since 2017 and we, VIVO Myanmar DMC is the main sponsor and event planner. He was selected as a representative of the private sector when establishing the Myanmar Union Tourism Executive Working Committee on February 27, 2019, in line with new Myanmar Tourism Law 2018.


KYAW BOHNE NAING

President

Kyaw Bohne Naing is a Managing Director- Global Asia Myanmar Travels & Tours Company, established it since 2011, and currently serves as the ASTA Myanmar Chapter President. It is his main responsibility is to develop the tourism industry between our two countries, the United States and Union of Myanmar, to make ASTA Development in Myanmar. He is also newly elected for the leadership role of Union of Myanmar Travel Association(UMTA) as a member of Executive Committee, 2019-2021 Term. In term of his education, he got a Master degree in Business Law from Yangon University. His first degree is Chemistry major and finished it in Dagon University, Yangon.


SANDAR AUNG

Vice President

Sandar Aung is an entrepreneur, having the DMC business named Great Golden Empire Co., Ltd. in Myanmar. She promotes brand Myanmar through themed Tourism in the international market. Sandar Aung, is a member of ASTA, positioned herself as a Vice President of ASTA Myanmar Chapter. In addition to her marvelous achievement and enthusiast travel professional, she is the Joint Secretary No.2 to the Union of Myanmar Travel Association. She has achieved her feets on PATA and Myanmar Tourism Marketing so that she can profoundly steer the Marketing Activities of Myanmar Tourism. Ms. Sandar Steber has done her Global MBA in International Business Management. She has been continuously participating in the welfare forum to boost the under prevail aged women in the society.


MAY MYAT MON WIN

General Manager of the 300-room Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon, one of the finest 5-star hotels in the city of Yangon – May is a passionate hotelier with more than 20 years of experience. May is also Chairperson of the Myanmar Tourism Marketing Association (MTM) – marketing arm of the federation, supporting destination promotion, marketing and public relations in global markets. May serves on the 2018 Board of Governors of the American Chamber of Commerce of Myanmar. May has a B.A (Honours) in English Language and Literature from Yangon University and an MBA from the University of Economics. In 2014, she completed the General Manager Program at the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration, Ithaca.


THATOE THUZAR AUNG

Secretary

Thatoe Thu Zar Aung, I’m Burmese and based tourism, writer, and publisher. I’m passionate about my carrier and a professional in the tourism industry since 1994, and I’m running Authentic Myanmar Co.Ltd. that deal with the Inbound DMC, outbound and international ticketing. In 2018, our company won the “World Tourism Award” during the world tourism award competition organized by UNWTO. I earned my 1st Degree in 2009 through the University of Sorbonne, Paris’s French Literature program, and in 2015 through the Chamber of Commerce, Paris’s business studies program. I’m a lifelong learner to improve my quality of life. I’ve published two books and some articles on subjects ranging from tourism to politics and Myanmar’s social life.

Graduate of Yeshiva University, Sy Syms School of Business in New York City, Sammy has promoted his country, Myanmar to all who know him. He started Myanmar Shalom Travels in 2006. His over 10 years experience in Business and travel industry abroad & love and thorough knowledge of Shalom operation team has made Myanmar Shalom Travels stand out among many travel companies. Sammy is also the leader of Jewish Community of Myanmar and his unique role in the Jewish community of Myanmar and about Myanmar Shalom Travels has been chronicled in articles in the New York Times, L.A Times, Jerusalem Post, Travel & Leisure and other newspapers.

Being expert in commercial experiences, he has been directing the import and export business pathway of TZK & WHI Trading for over twenty years. Then he’s entered into Tourism Industry since 2014. Now he is supervising TZK with the mission and vision for Marine tourism activities operating with Victoria Cliff Hotels and Resorts as the official subsidiaries, located at Kawthaung and Nyaung Oo Phee Island. He is equilibrating with portentous strategies and approaches not only to promote Myanmar Marine Tourism throughout the world but also to preserve the coastal line environment and wide array of marine species around Andaman Sea. Being the member of UMTA, MHA, UMFCCI, he is also proudly assigned as the Board of Director of ASTA.


MAY NYO LWIN

Ms May Nyo has been in the tourism industry for about 20 years. She started as an entry-level in the industry. And now she plays a prominent role in the tourism industry. She has a great passion for the tourism industry that can create opportunities and jobs for Myanmar Citizens. Ms May Nyo has led the “Peace Smile Land Travels and Tours Co., Ltd.” since nine years ago. Firstly, the company focused on the Japanese market, and later it starts extending its market to English speaking countries. The company gets successes in both inbound tourism and outbound tourism. She has won the Myanmar Women Entrepreneur’s Association’s Outstanding Women Entrepreneur Award , Myanmar Women Federation Award, and Outstanding ASEAN Woman Entrepreneur Award. She is a central executive committee (CEC) member of Myanmar Women Entrepreneur Association and Yangon Women Sports Committee. She is doing contributions for women affairs and to promote women empowerment in the community.
